Perspective

I've just come across a photo which I thought I'd share. It's helping me not to attach excessive importance to things - a sort of visual "Mu!" Here it is:

  1. Good one ^^. That's what I like about Biology, it gives you perspective of these things.

    Not only Earth is a tiny spot in the whole Universe, we as a species mean only the last 4 seconds in Earth's history, if it lasted a day.

  2. In lectures I give on Astronomy (here at the college) I often use that famous picture of the earth as taken by the Apollo 8 astronauts (the one with Africa in the center) and tell the students that I have a picture of them taken before they were born.

    Then I explain this whole concept to them...
